Jings! Now It's 'Air' in Aberfeldy

JINGS Arts and Crafts shop on Dunkeld Street in Aberfeldy is changing its name - to Air Gallery and Artists’ Workshop.

‘Air’ stands for ‘Artists in Residence’ and is the idea of local artist, Eric Timms, who spent the month of October in residence and saw the potential for developing the gallery into “hands on” experience, where people could watch him paint, come in, chat and buy his work.

“It was fantastic to feel part of the community”, Eric told Comment. He would normally be painting in the isolation of his studio in Strathtay, but “I met some interesting new clients, and found that it proved pretty lucrative,”he said. Roger Lee, the well known wildlife painter from Calvine, spent most of November working out of the Gallery. “It’s a wonderful concept, and most enjoyable”, he reported.

Eric has already moved back in, and has given the Gallery a facelift in preparation for the Christmas rush. As well as having a new range of original seascapes at competitive prices, he is also offering art lessons, either in situ, or via e-mail.
